Q?

What is an AFSS Annual Fire Safety Statement?

A.

It is like a Pink Slip for your Car only it is for your building. Once a year you have to get someone to check your essential fire safety measures to ensure they are working. At least to the standard when the building was built. If all is working fine an AFSS is signed off and submitted to local Council and Fire & Rescue NSW

Q?

Can I replace the battery in my Exit Light?

A.

In Short yes it possible to change the battery in your existing exit light. But we have found over the years it is a false sense of economy. We used to do it years ago, however there is a few other factors which end up making it cheaper to simply replace the unit. Within each exit light there is 3 separate sections. 1 the battery charger. 2 the battery. 3 inverter to drive the lamp.

The light may have failed the 90 minute test, you replace the battery but the real problem may have been the charger. So you end up replacing the light 6 months later and have wasted the money in replacing the battery.
